House Joannes Protner
Joannes farm winery is owned and operated by Boštjan Protner.(univ. dipl. Ing. agronomy) The winery sits among 9 hectares of vineyards only a few kilometers from Maribor - second biggest city in Slovenija. Vineyards was in three different location: Vodole - by house - new vineyard from 1995, Gorca - very steep (1984, 2002) and with slade soil and Celestrina - steep and slade soil (1985).

In 1999 a new modern cellar was open to the public, as well as the old portion, which is over two hundred years old, that holds premium and archive wines.

Some Joannes wines are stored in large oak barrels for a minimum of six months and none of these wines are released before they are at least two years old. (some Rieslings, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir).
Other age in stainless steel tanks and may be released earlier - after 6 months. - Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Rumeni Muškat . . .

The Winery is open for visitors total year. Visitors can enjoy specially prepared meals that complement the fine wines available. The winery is particularly busy around harvest time - October, and on holidays, with lovely walking trails in the area. The Winery have also rooms for guest.
